THE SCHOOL TEACHER'S NAME WAS EDNA MAY TONES. THAT'S HER MAIDEN NAME. SHE TAUGHT SCHOOL FROM ABOUT 1911 TO 1921 ALL UNDER HER MAIDEN NAME AT PEABODY. SHE'S THE TOP RIGHT HAND TEACHER IN THE PHOTO

EDNA MAY TONES WAS BORN ON SEPTEMBER 3,1892 AT KREBS, INDIAN TERRITORY.  EVEN
THOUGH SHE WAS BORN IN KREBS SHE HAD CLOSE CONNECTION WITH DENISON,TEXAS,
BECAUSE HER GRANDPARENTS LIVED ON A FARM JUST WEST OF TOWN.

HER MOTHER AND SIBLINGS LIVED WITH THE GRANDPARENTS AS HER FATHER MOVED TO DIFFERENT JOBS. THE FAMILY MOVED TO ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI IN OCTOBER OF 1894 BUT MOVED BACK TO DENISON ON FEBRUARY 1st OF 1901.

SHE BEGAN PUBLIC SCHOOL IN ST.LOUIS BUT FINISHED IN DENISON, GRADUATING DENISON HIGH SCHOOL IN 1909.  SHE ATTENDED THE "NORMAL" SCHOOL AT DENTON IN THE SUMMER OF 1909 AND 1910. DURING INTERVENING TIMES SHE WORKED AT THE KRESS STORE IN DENISON.  AFTER FINISHING HER SECOND SUMMER AT DENTON SHE GOT A JOB AT A RURAL SCHOOL IN CASHION?. SHE LIVED WITH GRANDPARENTS, JOSEPH AND MATILDA WILSON, THAT YEAR.

THE NEXT YEAR SHE STARTED TEACHING IN THE DENISON PUBLIC SCHOOLS. SHE RECEIVED THE PERMANENT PRIMARY TEACHING CERTIFICATE ON JULY 25,1918. SHE MOVED TO THE SCHOOL SYSTEM IN FORT WORTH IN 1923 AND CONTINUED THERE UNTIL MAY OF 1927.

SHE MARRIED FRED P. WAGNER ON JUNE 6 1927 AND MOVED TO BRECKENRIDGE WITH HER HUSBAND. DURING WORLD WAR 11 SHE TAUGHT SCHOOL AT AZLE, TEXAS FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS. THE FAMILY HAD LIVED ON A FARM NEAR AZLE, MOVING THERE IN JANUARY OF 1937. EDNA TOOK CLASSES AT DENTON IN 1918 IN ENGLISH, HISTORY AND PSYCHOLOGY. SHE TOOK CLASSES AT TEXAS CHRISTIAN IN FORT WORTH BEGINNING IN 1921 AND CONTINUING THROUGH 1923.. THESE CLASSES INCLUDED ENGLISH, EDUCATION, MATHEMATICS, CHEMISTRY, SPANISH AND ART.  SHE ALSO WENT TO SCHOOL AT THE  UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AT BOULDER FOR A LEAST ONE SUMMER.  A NUMBER OF PICTURES OF SCHOOL CLASSES AT PEABODY IN DENISON ARE IN HER ALBUM.
